huffleporg: I do legitimately envy those who can confidently say, “I’m going to study at the library because I’m much more productive there than I am at home.” I’m all just like, “Damn, I could be in a white, padded cell with my eyes open Clockwork Orange-style and still find a way to distract myself.”

“The thing about happiness is that you have to go out there to find it. It doesn’t find you. If you do not notice it, you will not see happiness in the way your lover smiles, you will not see happiness in the way your tea or coffee tastes, or the way fresh air feels in your lungs. You have to notice it and accept it.
The thing about suffering is that it finds you, and you need to tame it. If you ignore it, it’ll become this monstrous thing to make you notice it. If you let it take hold of you, and it becomes the only thing you accept, it’s all you’ll ever see. You have to sit with it, talk to it, let it be a friend, let it follow you through your life and let it know that it’s not the only thing in your life- that suffering is in your life just as much as happiness is.
You are not whole without some sadness in your life, the same way that you are not whole without some happiness in your life.
Life is a living thing and it is in a form of a double helix. Happiness and suffering intertwining, and everything breaks down without the other.
